Latest sewing project

Clint and I took a night off celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary on Tuesday.  Crazy how long that sounds!  We went out to eat at Carolina Ale House and browsed B&N.  I know, we're old, boring folks, but we have two years to plan an amazing 10-year anniversary hoopla...so, you just watch out.  (Thanks to Ruth for watching Car for us.)

Anyway, I wanted to make Clint some lounge-around shorts as an anniversary gift.  Carter obviously had to have a matching pair.  I chose the perfect fabric, a bright red Batman print with words like "CRASH" and "KA-BOOM" all over (think old-school Adam West Batman).  Carter wanted Curious George fabric; that wasn't happening.  I planned to have them done by our anniversary, but I was really struggling this past week with long lists/pregnant body not cooperating/procrastination/forgetfulness.  The biggest problem of all was the stupid Simplicity pattern!  Let's just say me and the center seam/crotch area of these shorts were about to have it out.  Despite my incredible dismay with the pattern, I got them done two days post-anniversary on Thursday.  This makes up for the frustration:

LOVE IT!
My next project may be a bigger version of this clutch that I made for my step mom last month,

Or I am thinking of tearing the bottom of this dress and making the shirt a tank top and sewing them together to make a new dress.

Ambitious, I know.

But first, Caden (5/17).  :)
