Snippets of the latest

Wow, we are getting very close to our big move!  This Sunday will be 30 days until we start our very different, new lives.  We're ready already, but we still have a lot going on here.

Here's little snippets of what is going on right now:

Carter is very excited about using his potty.  He has actually peed (yes, you saw that right--that was "peed") in the potty three times and asks us to read A Potty for Me! at least four times a day.  Sounds great--not so fast!  He also thinks it's funny to get off the potty and then pee on the floor.  :)

Instead of having one "special" eye with astigmatism (and having to wear that huge, uncomfortable toric contact lens), I just found out I have two "special" eyes with astigmatism.  My eye doctor gave me a trial pair of new toric lenses to try out for the next week.  I hope I can find a large-sized Visine for Contact Lenses bottle at Sam's Club (which, by the way, has overpriced tires, but then again, I do have "special" tires).

I am getting ready for a yard sale this Saturday.  I am a sentimental person but never really when it comes to stuff (more so with experiences), so I am looking around the house for anything to add to my yard sale inventory.  Unfortunately with this willingness to part with items so easily, I am known to spend half a day looking for something that I sold at a yard sale or on ebay six months prior.

Clint gave his three weeks notice at work.  He gave three weeks instead of two because they are already understaffed at work, and his co-workers may not be able to take their vacations if Clint gives little notice.  He's so nice!

I've recently been thinking a lot about the desires of our hearts and how they fit into God's will.  This was sparked by my Journey devotions over the past couple of days.  One of the Deeper Walk readings was Psalm 145.  My eyes watered up as I read about how God takes care of us and fulfills desires.  Despite of ourselves, God still wants to have an amazing personal relationship with us, so it is silly to think that our desires mean nothing to Him.  Now, God's will always prevails.  Knowing that, if we are willing to have God take control, God can take our dreams and produce the most amazing results.  This, of course, brings a fulfillment that nothing in this world can rival.

Talking about desires, I would really like these curtains for our new living room.  I know, $60 (we need two panels) for curtains!  That doesn't sound like thrifty Desiree, but I really, really like them!  I looked EVERYWHERE for something similar yet significantly less expensive, but I keep hitting dead ends.  I've even looked at king-sized bedsheets, large tablecloths, and home decor fabric that I could transform into curtains, but I'm either seeing dullness or crazy prices!  Sometimes (I really mean RARELY) I wish I could shop like a normal person--especially when this means the final touch to our new colorful living room transformation.

And now, in closing, our adorable boy:
