Let's do some updating...
We had a very sick boy who ended up going to the doctor three times and ER twice last weekend-ish (last Friday-Monday). Little man was a trooper and is fine now. Let's just say I'm not a big fan of spinal taps done on precious, adorable boys who wake up from sedation mid-procedure screaming for their moms. I am grateful to God for three things: 1) Carter's health being restored; 2) family that checked on us and friends who reached out and brought dinner; and 3) even in the midst of that hard weekend, seeing how God has been working in me because I realized I haven't worried about anything in about a year and a half including this health concern with Car (and I have a bad history of worrying/panic attacks). God is good to us.
On the flip side...
Being a nurse for Carter wasn't easy, and Caden let me know it. My body felt like a pinata. I am currently 1-2 cm dilated with 19 days to go until our scheduled c-section at 39 weeks. Let's do this thing.
On a superficial note...
I have been trying to stretch out the frequency of washing my hair. Across the board (unless you have really fine hair), you're not supposed to be washing every single day. I decided to try the shampoo-free method last night which consists of using a baking soda and water mixture for cleansing and an apple cider vinegar and water mixture for conditioning (guess that would also make it the "conditioner-free method" too).
This is the combo I used (not the standard):
For cleansing: 1 1/2 cup water and 1 1/2 tablespoons baking soda
For conditioning: 1 1/4 cup water and 1/4 apple cider vinegar.
My hair was super oily yesterday before my shower, but this new method cleaned it out thoroughly! This morning I had to put some shine serum since it felt a little dry. I'll put an update on here to let you know how it goes. Check out the above site for the details.
I also decided to be brave and venture into the Oil-Cleansing Method too. Pretty much you use a combo of two oils (again see the link), castor (removes dirt and purifies) and extra-virgin olive oil (moisturizes), to clean your skin. I know, why would you put oil on your skin? Apparently, oil gets rid of oil. (I've never liked science; that's why I chose to take a semester of meteorology and a semester of geology instead of a year of chemistry...which became mandatory after I graduated from high school.) I'm actually not that brave because I could only get myself to use a cotton ball swab of castor oil to clean my face. I saw so many mixed reviews especially with the EVOO on different sites that I got a little weary. I may use jojoba oil as my moisturizing oil if I get my big girl pants on. In the meantime, I will continue with my sorry attempt with the castor oil along with the rest of my crazy regimen. I'll keep you posted.
On being responsible...
As Clint and I registered for Fall classes this week, I realized I was nearing the end of my online freelance writing course. I also woke up to the reality that I'm extremely behind with some of the work (so not like me). The fact that the creative juices aren't even trickling in doesn't help. Times like this make me want to go for a long walk for inspiration, but it's 11:30 at night. Not the best idea.
With the work that I need to get done, I'm going to force myself not to make a fold-over clutch for myself with some fun fabric I just got today and also pretend I don't want to hunt for a peasant top pattern for some post-pregnancy garb I'm itching to get back into. We'll see how that goes...
On making the right decision?????
I also gave the family I nanny for notice that I'm not coming back after maternity leave. I felt so relieved to tell them. It's something I have been thinking and praying about for some time. I really want to focus on writing, being with my boys, and starting school up again in August. Again, we'll see how that goes...
One thing I know for sure is that I'm excited for summer (again, so not like me).
