If you ever need us at 4:00 in the morning, there's a good chance we'll be available. Seriously, just call us or stop by (only if you bring breakfast). We are up.
Carter has been waking up very early in the morning for the over two weeks now. We used to complain when he came into our room and started hitting us at 6:00 am, but we crave those days now. We think the problem stems from his lack of or lateness of naps. He used to take great naps after lunch or preschool. Not anymore. We close his curtains, get some books for nap time, and snuggle in his bed. Seven books later, he's still wide awake and refusing to nap. We also rub his back and play with his hair (that now has a 22% success rate), but he's still struggling to get out of bed. We try to be strong and just tell him to go to sleep and close the door, but he will scream his adorable little head off for much longer than we can take. After all of that, guess who passes out around dinnertime. And when Carter is out, he's out. There is no way to get him up, but if we are really persistent and do get him up, he is a monster. I actually shiver as I tell Clint, "I'm so scared to wake him up." It's that bad.
So, we are out of options. And no, we will not drug our child with nighttime cough medicine or Benadryl or put a lock on the outside of his door (by the way, he's already figured out how to get those safety knob covers off). Some good recommendations are welcome. If you don't have any, breakfast right now would be wonderful!
