- In my opinion, a church shouldn't have more than two Sunday morning services. That's my limit. I prefer not to do church on an assembly line. Really, is Service #4 as good as #1 and vice versa? I think churches have good intentions when they do this, but it's very easy to look confusing, unorganized, and rushed to new visitors (I guess, you might get used to it after awhile). I could go on, but it really comes down to a matter of personal preference. If you like it, that's great; it's just not for our family.
- A coffee bar does not make you cool (especially to us because we don't drink coffee). What ever happened to the good ol' water fountain? On the other hand, if I start seeing sparkling pink lemonade, I might have to be the first in line.
- I shouldn't have to overdramatically look lost and in a sing-song voice say, "Where am I supposed to goooooooo?" for greeters to help us. Oh, greeters remember your #1 task: greet. I'm the one who's supposed to look lost, not you.
- Sometimes in regard to visitor gift bags, less is more. It's especially bad when I'm tempted to estimate how much each one may have cost on the way home.
Well with that, we decided to go with North Wake Church. We really like the music (they mix it up--praise song, folk song, upbeat hymn), their Study/Serve program, small groups, community outreach, importance of missions and church planting, etc., etc. Their elders have been speaking while their lead pastor has been on sabbatical, so we're also excited to hear him when he gets back in October (because I'm a nerd, I already requested some of his sermons on a CD from the church office). We're happy to be plugging in and becoming a part of North Wake!
It should be mentioned that North Wake does have a coffee bar, but we had to stop being church snobs eventually. :)
