Welcome to Snowville

One of the joys of being a parent is being able to participate in juvenile activities and say you're "just doing it for the kids."  But honestly you're giggling up rainbow sprinkles and pom pom balls on the inside.  When Clint was out of town last week, Carter asked me if we could make his room into "Snowville" (that's what he called it).  At this request, I started thinking of my New Testament final, the messy house, and many errands I had to tackle, so I replied, "Sure.  Let's do it."  We went to Dollar Tree and got our material.  At home, I risked my life on a stool and hung snowflakes from the ceiling with children wrestling quietly playing on the floor.  Carter made a sign for his door and an invite for Dad.  Very cool.

Well, this week Carter wanted to add some friends to Snowville.  We made a reindeer named Rudolph (duh), a penguin named Chilly Willy (homage to old school Woody Woodpecker), a snowman named Frosty (double duh), and a wreath that Carter affectionately named America Runs on Dunkin' (for real).

I quickly noticed that I kept adding touches here and there like coloring in where Carter left off and recommending different ways to decorate his creations.  At the end of our arts and crafts session, I came to the conclusion that I am at risk of being one of those moms that end up doing my kids' science fair projects for fun (and because I want them to look good).  Fortunately, I have a number of years to reel this impulse in.

With scrap paper, Carter made that shark under Frosty.  He named him Finny.

Cade finding something that isn't one of his chew toys to chew on.  As usual.

Yes, I'm watching you.

Mom:  "Hey, Carter, don't jump on the bed."
Carter:  "I can because I can't get hurt."

I will remember this next time I get pulled over for speeding.
