Crazy random update

I know, I've been gone for sometime.  It's been busy.  Even though I am only taking two classes, I still feel the hours slipping away so fast (that sounds sad, I promise it's not).  So here's a re-cap:

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned I was going to take on the five components of David Platt's Radical Experiment.  It's been going really well!  I'm pretty sure I will finish the Bible before the year is up (thanks to the required reading in my OT class).  With our upcoming tax refund, we will be giving some money to good causes and to people we see in need.  (I'm so especially excited for this part; I really want to give all of it away!)  We are now a part of a small group at The Summit (SO love this church!) and look forward to growing in faith in a community context.  We also are putting money away for mission trips.  (Please pray for us with this one because it seems so impossible with our jobs and taking care of Carter, but we know God provides!)  Finally, the biggest impact on me has been praying for the entire world so that they may know Christ.  I signed up for Operation World's daily prayer emails that each day feature a different country.  Each day I gain so much information on what the people of each of these countries are facing, and I watch a short prayer video showing scenes of the people and their lands.  After learning more about each country and seeing video of these real people, my prayers are so much more wholehearted than before.  God, I am grateful to You for stripping away my ignorance.

School has been going well.  Even though I now only take two classes, I am swamped in reading.  Our chapel services have been really good and have prompted me to want to seek God void of selfishness and personal preference.  It's not about me; I am just an instrument.

Since Clint's birthday at the end of January, I really haven't done much outside of work and school.  So I was so happy to go out with my friend, Alana, into Durham for a little exploring.  Some of the funniest moments from our trip:

  • Carter pushed over an art exhibit pedestal, and my superhuman quick mom powers came to good use as I scrambled to save "precious" artwork.  (We were at The Scrap Exchange; it was junk with some one's name on it, so I guess that makes it art, right?)
  • Alana went the wrong way down a one-way street with oncoming traffic honking at her.  (I should have been scared, but it was too funny!)
  • Carter spilled two glasses of water at the restaurant we went to.  I'm sure our server wanted us to leave ASAP (especially since Alana and I went cheap and only ordered an appetizer of ginger-sesame wings and a side of asparagus).
  • We were told by security at American Tobacco that we were trespassing when we went down a certain flight of stairs.  (Well, stop showcasing the American Tobacco District as a tourism hot spot when it's 80% commercial!)

It was so nice to get out, explore, and be silly!  Thanks, Alana!  I want to go back to American Tobacco for my birthday to eat at Cuban Revolution and maybe visit the Duke Gardens or Lemur Center, so I'm happy we checked it out.

I am trying to make time with my Spanish workbook.  Conjugating verbs is just no fun!  I wish I could get Rosetta Stone (scoping eBay...).

Clint was going to do P90X with a friend.  After Clint found out that each session is 60-90 minutes (where did he get that from?) and that I want to do it too, he now wants to get his own P90X (again scoping eBay...).

I will try to post more often, but with March, always our busiest month, right around the corner, I can make no promises.  We shall see...

Over and out.
